Program Calendar

The program begins with a mandatory on-campus short residential institute for the Study of Health Law, to which the students will return each year. Thereafter, online, each student will complete online classes. The online courses run 10 weeks at a time. We recommend that students take 2 classes at a time.  During the final session, during which only one course is required. Thereafter, students have approximately six months to complete an in-depth research project.

An initial slate of eight courses is required: Legal Research, Methods & Reasoning; Administrative Law; Legal Perspectives on Health Care Ethics; The Law of Medicare and Medicaid; Tort & Contract Law; Legal Regulation of the Workplace; The Law of Patients' Rights and Advocacy; and The Law of Accreditation and Licensing.

After completing these initial course requirements, students can either earn the basic Master of Science in Health Law or specialize in one of two tracks: Legal Regulatory Compliance or The Law of Risk Management.

* Please note a class must have a minimum of three students registered at the close of registration to run.
